Fact-Checking Policy
TheFactBridge aims to distinguish verified information from claims, opinions and developing reports.
What We Check
Where appropriate, we may verify:
- Names and organizations
- Dates and locations
- Statistics and numerical claims
- Company announcements
- Government statements
- Research findings
- Product and technology claims
- Quotes and attributed statements
Source Hierarchy
When available, primary sources are generally preferred for important factual claims.
Examples include official government documents, company announcements, research papers, public records and direct statements.
Cross-Checking
For significant claims, we may compare information across multiple relevant sources.
Attribution
Claims from third parties should be attributed to the relevant source rather than presented as independently verified facts when independent verification is not available.
Breaking News
Initial reports may be incomplete. We may publish updates as information becomes verified.
Corrections
If a factual error is discovered after publication, we may correct the article according to our Corrections Policy.
What Fact-Checking Does Not Mean
Fact-checking does not guarantee that an article is free from every possible error. It represents a reasonable editorial effort to verify important information using available sources.
